The San Antonio furry community has been around since the early 2000s. Over time, different groups, meetups, and events have helped the local scene grow and evolve. In 2017, San Antonio saw its first furry convention, Alamo City Furry Invasion, which brought even more visibility to the fandom here.

After the COVID-19 lockdown, the community grew even more. Today, San Antonio is home to a variety of groups, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called River City Furry Events, and spaces focused on photography, cars, tabletop gaming, and more.

San Antonio has almost a furmeet every week! From regularly scheduled outings to spontaneous get-togethers, there’s always something happening. Groups like River City Furry Events host furmeets every fourth and fifth weekend, while others like Alamo City Furry Invasion, Furry Frenzy SATX, and more keep the month packed.
